Burning the Wickerman at Navan Fort and Centre in Armagh, was a spectacular sight. A great night was had by all.

Having just celebrated Lunasa, we don’t want to wish the Summer away just yet, but even with the warm weather, there’s a wee drop in the evenings and a freshness in the night air that has the apples turning crimson on my tree – all signs that the apple harvest is almost upon us. The apples seemed to get ripe very quickly this year. I wonder what that will mean for the quality of the cider?
We don’t have too long to wait to find out, what with the Armagh Food and Cider Festival coming up the first weekend of September. Kicking off with the Flash Fiction in the Orchard at Crannagael House on Thursday, 4th September 2025, at 7 pm, we are excited to announce the readers along with the titles of their stories as follows

If you submitted and were not selected this time, please know that we had the most submissions we’ve ever had. We’re truly sorry we can’t include everyone. Please do keep submitting your stories. I am always haunted by having to send out the rejection emails, being a recipient of many such emails myself. Please don’t be disheartened. It is the nature of this writing malarkey!
Tickets are on sale here, and I highly recommend that you get your ticket early, as this event always sells out, and when it does, we cannot squeeze any more in!
You should also check out the other events at the festival here.
See you there!
